Poetry Drive-by: Glance
Sunday, October 11th, 2015the fresh breath
of morning
is
sweeter
and
sharper
by far
when
my
first day’s
glance
is
of
you
the fresh breath
of morning
is
sweeter
and
sharper
by far
when
my
first day’s
glance
is
of
you
i sat
on the edge
of a great gaping canyon
with my feet
dangling
far out
into the slippery space below
not concerned
i know
when i stand
stretch
extend my legs
leave this canyon
far behind
i know
not worried
this canyon
nothing
compared to my destiny
nothing
impatient even
ready to catch up with my life
just wanted
to think things through
thoroughly
as always
thought it through
went around the world twice
in my mind
saw it all
with singing sad eyes

I now have a Facebook Page Writer Joshua James which you can like and follow my adventures there, if you’re of that mind.
They used to have these things called drive-in movies theaters.
They still have them here and there, I’m told, but it’s mostly for nostalgia’s sake … like LP records and cassettes, they’re for a specific group looking for a throwback experience (well, regarding cassettes, maybe not) rather than a cinematic one.
But back when […]
Today is my birthday…
The anniversary of my birth is, in fact, today… yep… thank you all for your kind wishes on this fine day. Of course, most of the credit goes to my parents, especially my mother because, without them, well… I wouldn’t be here!
To be honest, this particular day, during my younger, wilder […]
Hurricane Sandy was no joke. The winds were really bad, we could feel the building swaying, but the power in our neighborhood stayed on, at least so far, and most folks stayed inside. But that was one bad mother of a storm, and the city and this entire region is hurting in a bad way. […]
Which is a pretty cool sight featuring playwrights, sad ones … my link is here: Sad Playwright …
I’d post the pic they used, but Word Press is continuing to be a dick and not allow me to post any pictures … not only can I NOT post pictures, I can’t even access the old […]
Today I’m interviewed over at Carson’s screenplay review site ScriptShadow, so check out the sturm and drang of said interview by going to ScriptShadow: Joshua James - Interview and give it a read.
It won’t hurt, I promise (well, there may be some biting, but only in the form of comments) but it is heavy […]
So I guess it’s time to share the following news. Some weeks ago my original screenplay A NATURAL HIGH was purchased by an independent film company here in New York City.
The company, VIDEE THIS, had actually optioned the script two years ago, and near the end of the option period decided to execute the […]
Today is the anniversary of my wedding the Samurai Lady … so after my usual hours at the keyboard, I will be joining her for sushi and sashimi and thanking my lucky stars for having her (and the boys) in my life …
Writers (and everyone, but especially you writers and artists) make sure and […]
As promised in my Color Me Blue Belt post, below find the notes I kept in preparation for my BJJ blue belt test. Couple things … these are my personal notes (stuff I compiled a few days before the test) and as such may be incomplete and / or have mistakes in content. Any errors […]
