Whew. I needed to get that out of my system.

But it’s not personal. I don’t personally hate her. I hate what she’s currently representing. I just believe anyone who could possibly have the highest position of responsibility of this country should be at least somewhat competent.

That’s all I ask.

And she thinks man coexisted with dinosaurs.

Ironically, Joe Rogan (former host of FF) is actually a brilliant guy. Seriously.

I’ve heard that about Joe, and I liked him on NEWSRADIO, a really great and underappreciated sitcom, and I remember Joe doing a really great takedown of Carlos Mendoza, but me no likey the fear factor, that show was stinko-grande . . .

    Just my opinion, course.

And I see Joe all the time on UFC fights-

That’s probably the smarmiest post I’ve read on a blog in a long, long time.

Palin is obviously new to the world of national politics, but can you cite some evidence that shows that she is not competent? And I don’t mean things misspoken during interviews or the like - that is not a measure of incompetence. I mean some sort of FUBAR that proves incompetence.

  5. Joshua James Says:

    You’re kidding, right?

  6. Joshua James Says:

On the off-chance you weren’t kidding, I suggest beginning with Barry Eisler’s post “Suicide By Palin” linked here: http://www.barryeisler.com/2008/09/suicide-by-palin.html

  7. Joe Says:

No, Joshua, I wasn’t kidding. I think the anti-Palin crowd is just as ridiculous in their despising of the woman as the pro-Palin crowd is (not to mention the rabid Obama lovers) in their unquestioning adoration. The reason I even felt the need to respond to a blog I just happened upon was that I felt your original post (while admittedly an obvious venting) was a bit too harsh. Spock would say that you were letting your emotions get the better of you.

To your article by Mr. Eisler, it was a nice article. He’s a good writer. However, in the time that that article has been written, I have read a number of articles in actual high-profile publications that has talked about women actually embracing Palin - even if they don’t stand shoulder to shoulder with her on the issues. Look at the head of the LA chapter of NOW who introduced Palin at a rally recently as a “for example”. http://www.feministing.com/archives/011469.html.

As commenters say on that blog, you could use those same arguments to claim that Obama is not “competent”. In real simplistic terms, the big difference between the Republican VP candidate and the Democrat candidate for executive is that Palin has actually served in an executive capacity. I wouldn’t call running for the office of president as “vetting” a person, somehow preparing him or her for the office. It may help them learn how to be better politicians, but that’s about it.

I could go on, but I’ve written enough for now.

    Thanks,
    Joe

  8. Joshua James Says:

In the short time Palin has served in execute capacity, she violated ethics standards - when the investigation concluded and submitted the report that she did, indeed, violate said ethics standards, she gave a public press statement that she’s happy the report concluded she hadn’t broken any laws or violated any such ethics standards.

In other words, she lied. Her position was, “who are you gonna believe, me or your own lying eyes”.

This post is not about Obama, I’m not comparing them. I’m saying she’s not competent, she can’t even answer questions from a reporter (even Bush can handle an interview with a reporter) without giving a garbled response that makes no sense and answers no questions. I’m saying she’s not competent, and a surprising number of conservatives are coming to the same conclusion (most recently being Chris Buckley, who resigned from the National REview).

He feels she’s also not competent and an embarrassment to the republican party.

She left the one town she was mayor of in major debt, she’s been governor less time than John McCain has been campaigning, she lies about nearly everything on her record (beginning but not ending with the Bridge to Nowhere) and her husband is a member of a secessionist party that hates America, and she’s spoken at their rallies. And she feels that because one small island off the coast of Alaska can “see” Russia, that somehow gives her foreign policy props.

    Bull. That’s completely ridiculous.

Listen, you can find whatever articles you want that exist out there which reinforce what you’ve decided, that’s your right. I vented because of all the smart women (smart conversative women, too) that could have been chosen, this one woman was selected and she’s so incompetent she can’t even take questions from Katie fricking Couric, and you want her in a position of authority? That’s ridiculous.

I could go on, too. but mayhap you’d be better off visiting the Corner for future blogging, where facts don’t matter when it comes to politics, only ideology.

    I wish you well.

    Thanks.

  9. Joe Says:

That’s fine, Joshua. You have your POV and I have mine. I could comment about your last paragraph, especially talking about facts concerning Mr. Obama’s smoky past, but I won’t. I’ll just agree to disagree and go on my merry way.

Best of luck in your screenwriting,
    Joe (not the plumber)

  10. Joshua James Says:

As I mentioned, this isn’t a post about Barack Obama, it’s about Sarah Palin, and trying to compare their experiences is a false equivalency, a common tactic these days.

But best of luck in your non-plumbing endevours . . .
